Four hour, nine (9) lighthouse tour. $1500
Meet Captain Jack at the front of the Ocean House and Drive to the Watch Hill Lighthouse in a 1913 Model T Ford Woody. Walk around the grounds and learn about the history of the Lighthouse, Life Saving Station, The U.S. Coast Guard and about the great storms and shipwrecks along these shores.
Climb aboard the Classic motor vessel, ENCORE to Stonington, CT. Dock at the Breakwater Restaurant, for an afternoon drink and take a walking tour of historic Stonington Borough and the Lighthouse Museum.
Climb back aboard ENCORE and see the Latimer Reef Lighthouse, learn about its construction, history, the lightship that stood before it was built.
Next we run along the shore of Fishers Island and see its famous golf course, its former Coast Guard Station, in season Harbor seals, and the great mansions of the very private summer colony. Next we visit North Dumpling Island and learn about its history as the Kingdom of Dumpling and its inventor owner Dean Kamen, its role during prohibition.
Next we will go out into Long Island Sound and visit the Race Rock Lighthouse and learn about its construction and the challenges associated with its location.
Next we will visit Little Gull Island Lighthouse and learn about its history during the War of 1812. Next we will visit Great Gull Island owned by the American Museum of Natural History and its work with terns. You will see the incredible amount of nests and the terns.
We will head back to the New London Ledge Light House and the New London Lighthouse.
We next visit the University Of Connecticut Avery Point campus and see the Avery Point Lighthouse. Next we will go to Noank at the mouth of the Mystic River and see the Morgan Point Lighthouse. we will head back to Watch Hill. Enjoy a glass of Veuve Clicquot Champagne while the sun is setting.
